Workshop Day at Emilie's

The Stack & Weeden Girls arrive at Miss Emilie's home
for a special Spring Break Workshop Day

Today we took our girls to visit long time Summer Market vendor - Emilie Illson.  She was kind enough to invite our daughters to her home for a special day of crafting!  As we went to lunch at Sweet Melissa, visited Robin over at Cosmic Collectibles and Linda at Local Girl, the girls stayed with Miss Emilie and enjoyed making button necklaces, having lunch, touring her home & ending the day with some delicious cupcakes!  Emilie is a collector who cherishes treasures from the past.  She creates button bracelets out of the thousands of buttons that she has collected throughout the years.  She is so special and we LOVE having her at the Summer Market!  (our girls love her too!)

Lots to choose from!

Miss Emilie made these special nametags for
the girls and sewed on a special button for each of them

Hey Mavis - Friday Night at The Summer Market

July 29th - 5:30-8:30 pm
We are excited to announce that "Hey Mavis" will play Friday night at The Summer Market this year!

Hey Mavis crosses the genres of Americana, Texas Two-step, Bluegrass, Folk, and Art Rock. In their songwriting, the trio finds the fine threads within stories of all types--from the fantastic to everyday--and weaves them into "captivating musical journeys" (actor/yogi Kedric Wolfe).
Hey Mavis was formed in 2008 by nationally-acclaimed fiddler Ed Caner as part of the Artist-In-Residence program in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Hey Mavis is Laurie Michelle Caner (lead songwriter, vocals, banjo), Sarah Benn (songwriter, vocals, bass), and Ed Caner (viola profunda, fiddle, mixmaster). Ed has performed as soloist and sideman with countless artists, including Luciano Pavarotti, Smokey Robinson, Wayne Newton, Michael Stanley and Page and Plant. Laurie and Sarah both have extensive experience as members of the all-women vocal harmony group The Rhondas.
